INTRODUCTION

The Indian Muscular Dystrophy Society (IMDS) is a voluntary non-profit making organization. IMDS is supported by dedicated scientist, concerned citizens and clinicians. the settler of the trust is an Advocate Mr. Bharat Shantilal Shah, who conceptualized the noble thought of detection, treatment and rehabilitation of Muscular Dystrophy patients. His mission is to develop an advance research institute where such inherited disease can be prevented, diagnosed & treated.

HISTORY

This society is founded by Shri Bharat S. Shah (advocate) and Smt. Neela B. Shah (Advocate) whose young children were suffering from this disease the foundation of society was laid down with the aim of giving a ray of hope to the patients suffering form the same disease. This trust is established by the Managing Trustee Shri B. S. Shah, Advocate and Nurtured by Managing Trustee (Clinical) Dr. J. J. Mehta. This institute is further supported by reputed neuro-physicicans, pediatricians, physicians, orthopedicians of the city and state. This trust is registered under the Bombay Public Charitable Trust Act and its registration no. is E-7420, Ahmedabad. The trust is a society having 80-G Income Tax Exemption Certificate.
